    Weekly Coaching Conversation Template

    Use it when...

Use when (book): managing weekly coaching conversations with a coachee.

    What this is

The book's "lightweight template designed to help manage weekly coaching conversations effectively." Its stated focus: "essential elements to track progress, address challenges, set goals, and plan action steps." It is a two-column table (Section, Details) with seven sections, followed by seven numbered instructions for use. It appears at the end of the Workbook, after the Coaching Profile Outline.

Use when / Do not use when

Use when (book): managing weekly coaching conversations with a coachee. Do not use when (addition, not from the book): the conversation is a one-off or a feedback moment with no standing weekly cadence. The template is built around reviewing "last week" and setting "this week."

Instructions for Use (the book's seven)

    1. Coachee Information: Fill in the coachee's basic information at the start of each session.
    2. Review of Last Week: Discuss and document the progress made on the goals set in the previous session. Note any achievements and challenges faced.
    3. Current Week Focus: Set new goals for the current week, highlighting the priority areas.
    4. Key Discussion Points: Summarize the main topics discussed during the session, including any insights or feedback given.
    5. Action Plan: Clearly outline the actions to be taken, who is responsible for each action, and the deadlines or timelines for completion.
    6. Support Needed: Identify any resources or support the coachee needs to achieve their goals.
    7. Next Steps: Summarize the agreed-upon actions and set the date for the next meeting.

How to run it (Performance Lab suggested practice)

    1. Before each session, copy the previous sheet and carry its "Action Plan" rows into "Goals Set Last Week."
    2. Fill Coachee Information first (instruction 1), then work top to bottom in the order of the sheet. The book's sections run in the same order as its instructions.
    3. Keep the sheet to what was said and agreed. Write the coachee's own words where you can in "Insights and Feedback."
    4. At the close, read the "Summary of Agreed Actions" back to the coachee and confirm "Next Meeting Date" before ending.
    5. File the completed sheet with the coachee's record. If the coachee has a Coaching Profile (see Coaching Profile and Workbook Frameworks, a Coaching OS tool), update the matching profile rows from it.
    6. The book gives no session length and no rule for how many goals to carry; neither is added here.

Record sheet (Performance Lab suggested practice)

The template above is itself the record sheet. One optional field not in the book, kept separate so it is not mistaken for part of the template:
